Try Jim Cramer's books. I haven't read them personally bc I only invest in mutual funds, but I've heard they are good books for those who are stock traders.

Bill O'Neil's "How to Make Money in the Stock Market".
Peter Lynch - One Up on Wall Street
"Rule #1" is a good book.
The Warren Buffet Way

Just do a search, you'll find hundreds of them. Personally, if you want to learn the intricacies of market mechanics, then watching or participating is the best education. Try my sig. link for a couple of free stock trading simulators and learn by doing.

I assume you mean quick, intra-day trading as opposed to holding for any significant length of time?

Bogglehead's guide to investing... probably not what you're looking for but a must read imo.

O'Neil's book is good for shorter-term trading.

A Random Walk Down Wall Street should be recommended reading for everyone, though.

Here is an easy reading book I found that has helped me "A beginners guide to Daytrading Online" by Toni Turner. Another great book to have is "Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets" by Stan Weinstein's

How to count cards in Black Jack using a single deck.

You sound like the hare and not the tortoise. Seriously, I like "How a Second Grader Beats Wall Street" - Allan S. Roth.

I think I have to agree with frito here. The best book on stock trading is probably one that convinces you not to do it.

If you mean by how the a trade / transaction is settled/matched in stock exchange. Then I don't know any book. But, if you want to know how to buy and sell stocks in market, you need to buy five rules for successful stock investing by pat dorsey. You may also need to read intelligent investor by ben graham as given by another amedvedovski .

Smile Asking for a good trading book

There are tons out there but I found that The Power Curve, I think it is by Scott Kyle, was a great one. It actually gave me specific tips and strategies that I knew about but didn't quite know how to implement which I for some reason could not find. Hope that helps!

I'd go to the finance/business section of your library or bookstore and see what appeals to you. Some are more simple vs. technical, or might just spark your interest because of the writing style. You can always buy online to save, but I think you might want to get a "preview" before you buy. Also, some maganizes are good to get smaller tidbits of info and keep more current - Smart Money, things like that.

Good picks. I also like The Black Swan (also by Taleb),
and
Reminiscenses of a Stock Operator by Jesse Livermore.

If you google "jesse livermore reminiscences of a stock operator" the first link is a PDF that you can read.

Also I will say that the only book on trading that I own is "The Art of Contrarian Trading" by Futia.
