Anyone out there currently own Vanguard Tax-Exempt Money Market Fund (VMSXX)? Anyone out there who owned it in the past?

Are you (or were you) happy with the fund?

Or, do you have an alternative favorite tax-free savings vehicle?

We max out our tax-deferred retirement savings, and I'm looking for tax-efficient savings outside of our IRAs. Individual munis are out of the question (I like them but my DH is dead set against them, and so they are not an option).

The fund has a lifetime yield of 3.89%. Why not invest in a fund that earns over 12% and pay the tax on it.

Just looking for something relatively low-risk and tax-advantaged for these funds.

I have a tax-free MMF account with Wells Fargo. I currently have just the minimum in there because the tax-equivalent rate hasn't been competitive for some time. Made more sense to use a taxable account and pay the taxes. I haven't checked lately, though. I know the tax-free accounts have come back into favor recently in the current interest rate environment.

There are few other that provide better return with the same features as of VMSXX fund.
