Default Peak Corn

Could we really run out of food? - MSN Money

It appears we are the Saudi Arabia of corn/wheat. . .this gives us a little comfort in that we will always be able to trade for oil.

Makes for an interesting discussion. . .which is the more valuable commodity? Food or oil?

I could see a case being made either way.

Interesting. You can't really have one without the other. Food takes energy to grow, harvest and transport.

I think it is more important for us to control our food supply than for us to control our oil supply. But, I think we could reverse our fuel problem if we allowed ourselves to use all the COAL we are sitting on top of (gasify the coal and use it like gas)
