Default Prosper.com groups-- What to look for before joining

I'm thinking about getting involved with Prosper.com on the LENDING side. There are a few existing groups I'd be eligible to join. Any comments suggestions, or tips from personal experience to consider?

There is no reason to join a group as a lender. Groups are for borrowers.

From Prosper.com:

"The foundation of Prosper is based on groups of borrowers..."

"Joining a group can boost your reputation as a borrower..."

You may want to look into what is involved in being a group leader, as there are potential additional advantages, however, I expect that would something you would do later, after some experience as a lender.

Thanks-- that makes sense. I feel like the Prosper site could do a better job of explaining the process and adding an FAQ section. I've learned more about Prosper and the Prosper process from bloggers than from their web site.

Here is the best page on lending. Besides the basic info it contains, it also has a lot of links on the right to address just about any question.

poundwise is right--lenders don't NEED to join a group, but you can certainly join a group if you like the idea of helping a good group boost its numbers.
