Thumbs down Bank of America (Strike 3)

I have had a BOA CC for almost 2 years. With theor change over/ merger with MBNA, they lsot my online payment. I have called over 5 times in the past week and finally today it was resolved. They other times were before the due date and they said that Yes we can see your payment, it will post on your due date.

Strike 4, but who is counting,

My father and I share the same first name MI and last name. So BOA thought they would be kind enough to combine our online profiles, so after 2 phone calls and over an hour on the phone, they are supposed to be seperated............

I guess we will see

UPDATE: NOT ONLY DID THEY CHARGE ME A PAY BY PHONE FEE BUT A LATE FEE FOR THEM LOSING MY PAYMENT. I HAD TO CALL AGAIN THIS MORNING FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I GUESS WE WILL SEE AT STATEMENT TIME

I've heard so many horror stories on here about BoA that I don't think I'll ever do any business with them.

I recently had an experience with a CSR at BofA who was extremely helpful and went above the call of duty. So there are no absolutes when it comes to banks, credit card companies, etc.

Oh, you all are definitely scaring me away from BOA. We've recently moved. We are still banking across state lines. I was beginning to consider BOA...it's just up the street. I may look at Wells Fargo.

Here's a cough drop.

But Tina's right. Ever since I joined a credit union, I've never looked back. Right now, I'm a member of two of them actually.

I'll look into that too. There are so many choices. I could also go online with USAA. I was hoping to find a national branch that would be easy to work with when we move every three years for the army.

Hot tea works wonders for coughs as well!

Totty is British slang for a sexually attractive woman. I am not making this up: a Red Dwarf fan and someone who's seen "Curse of the Wererabbit" will attest to this.

Bank of America drove me away. I like credit unions, and small local banks are good. You want to know your banker and have your banker know you. It's comforting to know your money is being circulated among your community, and to bank somewhere they appreciate your loyal business.

I am not a BOA customer, but a credit union would be hard for someone like me who does not live anywhere near one.

However I am very satisfied with Wachovia (was First Union in my area)

I must admit, I don't mind BOA. I've survived through Summit, Fleet and now them. I have noticed that there have been quite a few complaints about them but for me so far, so good. I've used their online banking and billpay for years and I'm quite pleased with them. I did have a problem once (not of BOA's doing) with an online bill payment supposedly not received by a certain cell phone company but the BOA rep got on the line with them and settled it.

when I had my identity stolen in 2000, the first person to come to my defense was the branch manager of First Union (now Wachovia). It was above and beyond teh call of service that I expected. I was expecting him to meet with me for a half an hour tops, but he met wtih me for 2 hours and then adjusted his personal schedule so my problems would be resolved in a timely matter. He called every company that was involved and let them know what was going on.

It's the kind of service you expect from a local bank that I got with a chain bank.

Here, credit unions belong to a network so you can access your accounts in other areas. Those thinking of joining a credit union, but are worried about broader access might ask about this feature. I've never used it--didn't know it existed until hurricane rita.

Dont know whos fault this is but my MIL just had issues with them. She has been a customer for years, and her account was fine untill the merger. Now she ha weird withdrawl issues. She finally got in touch with the fraud department and they told her someone in Russia was using her card and pin. Scary huh!?!!!

I've not had any experience with BOA, but these kind of posts are downright scary!

I finally convinced my dh that we no longer needed to be loyal to a bank that was not customer service oriented! We've had our checking account at this one bank for over 16 years and when I asked about free checking since dh turned 60, they laughed at me. Went across the street to another bank and they said, "Hey, he's 60, great, here's free checking, free checks, and btw, we also offer a free safety deposit box." We've been moving CD's to banks that pay better interest as well.

Anyone who's into betting for laughs:

I closed my account and safe deposit box rental of ten years December 22, 2006 at Bank of America, or so I thought.
God's honest witness, since then I have had only a reminder that my rental fee would be debited from my account January 22, 2007.

Who'd like to bet that:
- I get a NSF fee notice for the safe deposit box rental I closed out and signed papers with my husband for the purpose of closing
- I will need to return to the bank to close out my account.

My spouse had to close one account three times over four months. Each month he'd be getting a fee for having a zero balance. It was frustrating for us because it's not like we as accountholders know the internal procedures at BoA for closing accounts, and we trusted the staff to complete processing.

when I moved I tried desperately to join a local bank or credit union no matter where i joined I had weird fees, that were always mistakes

sterling silver bank charges my kids 3 dollars a month for their savings accounts!!so every month I had to call and get them reversed

on point credit union charged my 3 bucks a month unknown address fee which they conveniently sent to my address!!!!

I finally gave up my credit union is about 300 miles away and is actually quit convenient I direct deposit, bank online and by mail .
