Default Chase Freedom Card vs the Citi Dividend card

I currently have the Citi card and keep hearing that they will be cutting the rate but i would believe that they would tell me this first. wouldnt they? Next, i just found out about this Chase card, I def am not going to change because I will be a hit to my credit, however, i would trade drug stores for fast food joints anyday (even if i do become overweight). Anyone have an opinion?

You should have received a notice in the mail from Citibank about their dropping to 2%. You may have tossed it as it looked like an advertisement.

The 3% cash back at fast food restaurants via Chase Freedom is good if you eat at those establishments regularly. Otherwise the card is pretty mediocre.

The card is pretty much the same as the Citi card correct? Isn't the citi card going to be basicly 3% at gas, grocery and drug stores? I did not get anything from citi, I alway open everything and read it. Should i call up and find out?

I have read that they are also adding utility payments to 2% cash back.

I just received this msg through citi card msg:

"Beginning August 16, 2006 approximately 4 million Dividend customers will receive a notification that the cash back rewards program is changing from 5% EDS to 2% cash back. Approximately 1 million customers will remain at the 5% on EDS."

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones since I haven't received a letter about the change yet and October is fast approaching. I wonder how long the 5% rate will last for those 1 million customers.
