Question Small Investor's Guide to Buying Gold & Foreign Currency

Heigh-ho:

A local office of a currency exchange (Custom House) said it no longer sold Euros, and probably doesn't sell gold anymore either.

I'd like to soon start gradually accumulating gold, silver and foreign currencies. I must be able to take possession of the gold and silver. There's a local to me place, but the premium for purchases under $5000 is stiff (15% premium).

What sources do you savvy but small investors use?

Paulette

Paulette why don't you use the ETF for gold or silver? Ticker GLD or SLV.
I have recently been putting some money into foreign bonds but it is still a small percentage of my net worth through a few closed end funds i.e. MSD but its not exactly what I am looking for. Ultimately, I would like to hold Russian and/or Canadian government bonds either directly, through an ETF, closed or open ended funds.
