Well, it appears that after having an account with an Internet Bank myself for over 3 years, I'd have a tendency to think so. I've also switched my primary checking account to an Internet Bank. The interest I earn on my checking is only 0.25% (until I get above $50k), but my savings is 1.1% right now, which is only about 70x more than what my local bank would pay me for savings. And I have very good control of the monies (plus/minus 3 days for transfers) all to myself. In my case, I work with ING direct, but there are others that are just as valid. Look for the FDIC that they offer, or don't go with them IMHO.

Long time no see Saving Advice friends! Hope all is well.

I've had the AMEX savings for 6 months with good results. The rate is staying constant at 1.15% and the infamous AMEX Customer Service comes with it.

Just got an email that smarty pig is lowering rates to 1.1% for balances up to 25k. Man I wish interest rates would start going back up.

Anyone know the highest interest rate for savings account right now? I believe Discover Online Savings and Capital One are pretty close, around 1.1% and Capital One has some kind of interest bonus, but I may be missing a few.

I'm currently getting 1.5 at Redneck. I'm not aware of anything higher.

I have been using Smartypig for most of the year. It has 1.10% APY and it has been one of the very top and competitive compare to others for a long time. Anything better?
