Default When buying in bulk wastes money

I have come to see that some things even when they are cheaper by volume in bulk cost me more money than smaller containers that cost more. This is especially true for me with containers.

I buy pudding and I've been buying a large container because the per weight is cheaper in the big container than buying individual one serving size packages. I eat some before I go to bed each night.

The other day they were out of the big container and I bought a four pack.

What I noticed is that when I serve myself out of the big container, I serven myself much more than are in the individual packets. When I calculated it, not only was I eating more (not good for my waistline), but it was costing me more overall (since I only eat a single serving of the individual packs.

All this time I thought I was being good saving money and it was actually costing me more because it increased my consumption

I noticed this, we try not to buy ANY junk food in bulk, if I have it I will use it. When it comes to vegetables that is a good thing, when it comes to sugar, not so good!

Buy the big container and portion it out into little containers.

Good idea. I can't do that for everything, but I think I can with some of them

you could always get those reusable/disposible bowls and separate into servings I do this for my kids this way they are not basicly eatting out of the huge containers. That and it seems to take up less space cause I can spread it out threw out the fridge. I did this with dry goods too.
