Excuse me if this has been posted before...

But I just realized that Amazon.com sells bulk groceries! Many of items cheaper than Sams Club! Most of it is free shipping too.

I saw some soup on QVC that looked really good so I googled it and found it on Amazon. I got 12 packets of soup for $17 and each packet serves about 6. So that is less than $1.50 per packet and less than 30 cents per serving! That is sooo cheap!!!!!

I also got some of this granola stuff (Bear Naked) that I have always wanted but couldn't even afford at Sam's. I got six 12 ounce bags of granola for only $22. At Sam's the price is about the same but you have to pay for the yearly fee. This will make a really cheap and healthy breakfast over yogurt!

My sister got deodorant the other day, a 6 pack of Degree for $4!

I didn't really browse too much but I did see a lot of other great deals. If you don't want to store all this, then you can go in on with someone!

Katie, six 12 ounce bags of granola for $22 is $4.89 per pound. Granola is usually mostly oats. If you have more time than money, you can buy rolled oats and the other ingredients to make granola more economically.

The oats aren't expensive, but it takes a lot of maple syrup to make granola which is surprisingly expensive.

For what it's worth, I use half honey/half maple syrup in my granola - only 1/4 c. total though, so even though they are both expensive, you really don't need a lot. I buy rolled oats for $.51/lb. Raisins and cranberries can be cheap if bought in bulk. My most expensive ingredient is sliced almonds, but totally worth it for me. Still cheaper than buying it already made, plus I get to control sugar and nutrition content.

Back to the original post, I have checked out Amazon before, but never found anything I used regularly (enough to justify buying it in bulk). Thanks for the reminder though - I like to check back every so often. I believe they have a clearance section as well.

But you can replace maple syrup or honey with a homemade sugar syrup. Or make muesli which requires no syrup at all, maple, sugar or otherwise.

You can also omit nuts, or use cheaper nuts like peanuts and omit dried fruit, or use cheaper dried fruit like raisins.

Just this month I discovered that Amazon has Quinoa (a type of grain) sold in bulk. Even better, if you "subscribe" to get it however often you want it to come, you get an extra 15% off.

Not all of the bulk items are like that - but a good number of them are. I bought 8 1lb bags of Quinoa for $21.49 which should last me roughly 2 months - then I also subscribed to get it delivered every other month.

I'm also considering ordering the Hemp protein powder - it definitely is cheaper than I can get it at Whole Foods. My grocery budget for March is totally shot though, plus I still have at least half a container left - so will wait till April to get that.
