Default I am impressed with myself

So I am really trying to stay on a low budget of grocery shopping. Usually for my family of 3 I tend to spend anywhere from 4-6 hundred a month on food. So last night I made a menu out with 9 meals. I made out my list and went to Aldi's today during my lunch break. (It is like a save a lot, or discounted food store) I got all of my items on my list except stuff that needs to stay cold ( I am at work) and only spent $30!!! That leave me with atleast $70 more if I need it. But all I need to get is a few dairy/produce items and meat and I am done. I know meat is expensive but I am just needing a bag of chicken, 2lbs hamburger, and a roast. So even if I do spend the $70 which will put me at $100 at least I am starting to stay on the low end. Plus a lot of the meals I planned out can either be used for lunches the next day or froze to use at a later date. So I just thought I would share because this is very rare I go shopping and only get what is on my list. Now the real challange, going to Walmart after work to get the rest of the items and staying away from the clerance isles!!

Way to go. I have also found that going just when I 'have' to and staying out of the store at all other times helps to. It seems that just going to the store costs money....aagghh....so the less frequent I go the less I spend.

Way to go! I, too, stay out of the stores as much as possible. Sticking to the list helped me, but the biggest help was making menus. That got me to using up what's in the house, too. I'm trying to challenge myself to spending less time in the store also. Seeing how quick I can get in and out. My mom does that one. She hates shopping.

Good job! Yes, the clearance aisles at Walmart can be dangerous, but just will yourself to avoid them, or if they are absolutely unavoidable, give yourself $5.00 to spend and no more (that way the damage is not too great)...keep posting on your progress
