Once a week, unless we run out of something then I just run by and get what I need and get out.

I've been doing once a week for years - with the occasional stop for extra bread & milk.

BUT, I've been trying to get myself out to two weeks at a time here. Right now things are looking pretty spartan in the freezer section. Fortunately there is lots of canned meat here = tuna, beef, spam and the guys here like it okay, they just want MEAT.

There are several rolls of ground turkey that I just need to use up... so off to the pasta shelf to see what to go along with. There aren't any frozen veggies here right now except peas & brocolli.

Just recently we emptied the big freezer in the basement and disconnected it == I may have to reopen that portion of the program and go to once a month shopping. I could do it - it will just take some mindset changes. Two weeks is not yet perfected and then I'll work myself out to three then go to four. I think I can, I think I can!!

Until this year, I used to go weekly. Hubby is now shopping and goes to the grocery store for our big shopping once a month. He may run and get a couple of items on sale and of course the milk, bread and juice routine. We have actually saved with him doing the grocery shopping. I also like that he isn't afraid to buy something new or different from what we usually eat. It's like Christmas going through the grocery bags when he comes home. It's also like D- Day when we receive our Amex bill which we PIF every month but use for the rewards points that we receive by shopping at the grocery store.

Once a week, but sometimes we run out of milk or bread and I go back! I don't like that though, I always end up getting more than just the milk or bread!

Once a week. I would love to do every 2 weeks but that's probably impossible until a couple more kids go to college. They just go through too much milk and it costs too much to buy it here in town if we run out.

I go once a week also, but often stop by to pick up one or two items that I need. When I first got married, my grocery allowance was $12 a week for two people and that included a carton of cigarettes.

I grocery shop once a week. Cooking for one, I lose too much perishable food if I try to stretch it to two weeks.

We budget $75 every two weeks for groceries, and go out once every other week. If we can stock up on first paycheck each month, then I encourage us to spend less the second time.

I shop at 3 stores. Stop & Shop is for meat and loss leaders only...if there aren't any good deals in the flyer on a particular week, then I don't go there.
I usually go to Walmart at least once per week for staples (bread, milk, eggs, etc). Been buying 2 loaves of bread at a time and freezing one, so I don't have to go just for bread.
PriceRite is where I go for all produce, cheese and other misc. items. They have excellent prices, but they are not consistant in their offerings....I usually go there about 3x's/month.

I might try to skip shopping altogether this weekend...I have a pretty good stock right now.

Once a week, two stores...we frequent 5, but aim to go to only 2 in a week (the milk one and any other)

BUT this week we will go tomorrow, 3 days early..we have guests Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (dfifferent guests) so we wont be able to shop...but I plan on buying enough to make it to next Saturday, so hopefully the month average will still be once a week.

I have done it before and it works, except for Christmas..then I think we average twice a week from the second week of December to the second week of January...I might need to work on that (for the gas savings prolly not going to reduce Christmas food fund, I like Christmas food.)

I'm trying to take one day and go to a couple of stores. I have a large chain grocery store that is 4/10's of a mile away. I find that the less that I do go and shop, the less that I spend. So, I try to stay out of the stores unless it is for perishables, or sales that come out for only a couple of days.

We go about three times a week. We don't plan menus anymore and sort of wing it by what needs to be eaten. Since it is just the two of us, our bill is way down, but we waste more if we go less often and buy more stuff.

Does that make sense?? Last month food total was $253 and eating out was about $44.00. We were in NC for 8 days though and I didn't include our food there in our totals, that was in a different category "family fun".

DH does about 99% of the shopping. Last Sunday he found spiral hams at Costco for 97 cents a pound, so we had several meals with that.

I usually do a major grocery shopping trip every 3 or 4 weeks and might go another couple times during the month to pick up "a few things".

I bulk shop once a month. I make milk runs about every 2 weeks if I can get the milk with far out dates. (During the winter I forego the milk runs and buy it all in 1 trip and freeze).
However, if I have to go to the city anyway, I check the ads and see if I need something on sale. But, I normally will not make a special trip for it.
