I do the same as others here - I just started making our own bread and it's tasted really good and is healthier. We try to stay away from processed stuff and buy vegetables/fruits that are in season or on sale. It's definitely do-able, you just have to plan well! I love making what we can from scratch!

I don't buy organic, instead I cook and bake from scratch and am starting to grow my own vegetables. This means no additives or preservatives in most of my store bought food and I can grow my own organic veggies. I grow veggies indoors and outdoors.

Health food is always going to somewhat have a negative connotation. However, these junk foods will by no means give you the nutrition that you desperately seek. By eating healthy foods and looking great, you will not only feel better about yourself, but you'll have additional energy.

My brothers family eats 'regular' meaning white bread few veggies, and plenty of cheap junk.

They all had a cold and were sick for over a week. I have the same cold. I was totally sick yesterday and today have a headache....I eat the second worst of my own family but in general fruit and veggies a plenty, whole grain/whole wheat. I don't pay for organic. Not to sure it is worth it. (Penn and Teller do an interesting take on organics)

My personal opinion is that the healthy eating is what keeps m family relatively healthy. And my own lousy immune system, combined with my not quite as good as them eating is what let me get sick (but only for a couple days)

So I do think paying what is needed for whole wheat, and plenty of fruits/veggies is worth it. But it isn't that hard. We buy whatever fruit/veggies are on sale, and we try to find good deals combined with coupons for the whole wheat stuff.

I go to the pick it yourself farms and get alot and freeze it for later use. The price was about equal to the supermarket but it was fresher and juicier. (strawberries this week, cherries and raspberries next week)
