Default Walgreen coupons good! Grocery coupons bad.

I'm new to couponing. I am having a ball at Walgreens! I now have 14 (FOURTEEN!) tubes of toothpaste! And they paid me $1.00 to walk out of the store with Kotex! (Not my normal brand, but who cares? They paid ME!) So Walgreens shopping is going well.

I'm not doing so well with food. I do not understand how food comes out less. We are fortunate to have a good Aldi's. Produce is hit and miss, but mostly it is good. I just can't find the good deals to where the cost ends up less than Aldi's. Meijer had a super-double coupon day a few weeks ago and I did ok at that, but not great. I keep waiting for another double or triple coupon day. The best deals seem to be BOGO plus coupon, but I am just not having much luck with this.

I'll give it a little longer, but I may hang up on my hat on food coupons and just stick to toiletries and paper products.

I too have fallen head over heels in love with Walgreens. One just opened near my work. So far, I have hit the Kotex rebate twice, each time being paid several dollars after rebate Another favorite is the Royal gelatin 5/$1 sale. Whoa! I make sure to scan their ad every week now.
I agree with the couponing - it is hard for me to consistently beat Aldi prices. It is even harder for me to beat the prices at a local store that sells items that are damaged or near the expiration date. But then again, I will find a few good deals here and there, like Malt O Meal cereal for $1 with a doubled $.50 coupon - it's these deals that keep me looking each week I enjoy the search, so at least I am having fun playing the game, even if I'm not winning every week!
