Default Vacation Destinations, Past & Present

where have you traveled to on vacation in the past year or so? If $$ and time were no object, where would you really like to go?

Me: Past year was no big deal, tho still nice. Went to south carolina, adirondacks in NY. Kayaking all over CT and parts of NY and NJ

Where would i really like to go? Italy

SO wants to return to Vietnam, where he traveled years ago for business

Last year took a road trip through Philadelphia, NYC (Times Square) and Boston. Year before that, Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, Kawai). The trips were 50-75% paid for by credit card rewards. (Woohoo!)

Both were awesome trips. Would love to go to Switzerland and Austria as well as Spain and Portugal.

I'm living my vacation right now.

I'd love to go to Washington DC and tour the smithsonian, etc. And New York.

I'd love to tour every single national park (even the dry tortugas - just not during hurricane season).

And Europe. I'd love to have a full year to do the everpresent "backpack across Europe" trip. Who cares that I'm 30+ and have 2 kids. When they are teens, we could do it.

Past (as an adult, my pick) just family . Nothing wrong with family, but somehow dealing with ILs isn't all that relaxing!

Future, DS is asking for Washington DC, and well everywhere! he wants to see ALL the states, I will do my best, but we will stick with those we can drive to for now. (and I am NOT going to cuba for him!)

We've taken some weekend trips to Philadelphia and NYC, but no long trips since we started having kids a few years ago. Before that, we used to take one long vacation a year - a week-long cruise or a trip to Mexico.
We would love to go to Hawaii and Ireland someday...probably not for a long, long time though. I'm sure we'll make a trip to Florida at some point to take the kids to Disneyworld too...although I hate the crowds and commercialism of it.

well i wne to Holland to visit my sister and her family (cheap ony a ticket!) for two weeks in January (also freezing cold!)

Was planning on Hawaii but i broke my wrist last week in an accident between a car and my bike so no go for me so.. plan to go to Italy next year for the month of September to stay with 4 friends (also cheap ticket and 400/month for the house plus food).

I love day trips but with the price of gas this year not so much. I love the hiking in the sierras and that is really cheap too...riding my bike around midtown and eploring small towns in the area.

We drove down to florida for beach and disney world because neither of us had gone to Disney before (it was a 10 day ordeal including driving time). That was last January though.

Also, this January we drove to Stowe, VT for a couple days of skiing, got the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream tour, went to the Magic Hat (Beer) Brewery in S. Burlington, VT.

We flew down to Atlanta in March as well (we were both looking at Grad Schools, but we took a couple extra days and made it a mini vacation because it was still snowing and cold in Rochester!)

In August I went down to DC with 2 friends for a couple days and did more touristy things that I didn't do in DC when I last went last year.

Other than that we've gone to the beach since moving to NJ this summer, and we went camping at one of the state parks too. Went to Philadelphia 2 weekends ago (it's only an hour away).

I'd really like to go back to the US virgin islands again-- I went to St Thomas and St John back in 2003 and it was soooooo pretty. Sometime in my lifetime it would be nice to go to Hawaii, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy/that whole mediterranean area. I'd settle for any one of those.
