I live in Arizona. Winters here are not cold enough for me to ever use my heater. THe highs are around 60is and lows around 40ish during winter months.
I live in an apartment. The apartmetns on either side of meand above me use their heat. THis helps to keep my paartment warm enough that I do not need to use my heat. In fact, I keep my AC on year round -- as turing it off and using neither heat or ac means my apartment gets up to around 85.. So no heater use for me.... |

That is quite fortuitous! I wish I could say the same but alas!

well I live in Arizona too and we have to have a heater as it gets very cold, and then in the summer we have to turn on the AC so we dont cook ourselves to death.
Arizona is such a vast land, but boy has the weather changed in my 33 years. |

I used to live in an apartment over an attic record store, the heat was paid for and for some reason it was always hot in our apartment, I mean we honestly warned people to bring shorts in December cause it was so hot. Nothing worked to cool it, aside form opening windows in windter, dunno if it was the way the heat rose from the shop and neighboring apartments or what.

It has seemed to get warmer in the bigger cities -- called the "island effect" or something -- has to do with all the concreat and buildings holding the heat in longer and not cooling off as much as night. ON the other hand, we do have snow country up near flagstaff where one HAS to use heat or they freeze |

I live in an apartment, so fortunately my heat is paid for! My landlord's generally pretty good about keeping it warm, too- sometimes we have to open the windows to cool the apartment down. Paying for heat is one thing I'm not going to be worried about this winter!

We're about a mile in from the beach, so we get cool here (though not COLD by any stretch). Our heater is set to kick on if the house drops below 60*F at night, and I think I have it set at 67*F during the day. If the heater is on when we wake up, we know if it got cold during the night.
We don't have A/C. |

My hubby has turned our heat on a couple of times to warm up. He looks at me like I'm crazy when I ask him why he is turning it on as I'm hot. But alas, I'm a woman of "a certain age"
and tend to be hot alot!On the utility front though, our water bill has gone down significantly! our old washer/dryer combo broke down (flooding the house and basement in the process). I was sick so hubby went and bought a new washer on his own and got one of those European front loading washer/dryer combos that is all in one machine--$1700 GULP! But the water savings has proved it will pay for itself and the electric bill went down too, but hard to tell if it was because the AC was off more or because I still was hanging stuff out to dry when I could. Now if there was just some way of avoiding winter and the high heat bills! Gail |

We still haven't turned our heat on, but our tenants had it on the other night... and their windows were all open too grrrr.
It's starting to get pretty cold around here... so far we're just dressing up warmer and wearing slippers etc, but soon we may have to turn it on. |

My house is 72, and I have a wondow open to keep it that way, so would not be me in former years! I am either crazy or getting used to cooler temperatures!

We live in the northwest and it's pretty chilly at night. We haven't turned the heat on yet, but do pile on the blankets and warm jammies. Dh and I sort of have a game every year to see if we can hold off on the heat until November. He calls it the 6 month plan--heat from November through April. The funny thing is I've always stayed home with the kids in the cold house and he's been in a warm office at work. This year the situation is reversed...we'll see how long the heat stays off. Ha! Ha! Ha!
