Default Needed, but never used

I'm finding that as I *TRY* to clean out my closet, there are a lot of things that I "needed" but have never used. I think I'm getting better at it now, but still had to shake my head at some of the things I found. Too many clothes that have never been worn once, a stack of DVDs I thought I needed (even though I have the video tapes) when I upgraded my machine and a wind chime that has never seen the wind to name just a few.

Please let me know that I'm not the only one that has done this. Are there things lying around your house that you were sure you needed at the time, but have never been used?

And if it does it end up I buy it sometimes I take it back because I decide later well no I really dont need this & will never use it.

about 5 years ago, i bought 2 turntables $700 a piece... these big speakers and a strong amp.. all together prolly came to $1800..

my DJing career never took of, mostly due to lack of practicing.. aside from a few really loud house shattering parties.. that was a waste of cash, luckily it held its worth pretty well, and i sold it all to someone else for $1400 a couple years later.

also when i was about 15 i bought a guitar, with my first 2 paychecks ever.
it cost about $400.. but my guitarist career never took off either..

i still have that guitar laying around, its a "black beauty, ephitome..it has a few bangs up to it, so it just lays around collecting dust.

I am still constantly finding things in my house that I have not used ever or only once or twice.

I am now, after a year of decluttering, getting good at looking closely at stuff before I buy it, for me or someone else, I don't want to spend the loot if I will be decluttering it (or leaving someone else to do so) in a year or so.

It really is amazing how many things we "need" and buy. I am starting to realize that wanting is so much more wonderful than having. Ever get something you really "wanted" only to find after a while it really wasn't?

My downfall in the past has been souveneirs. You would be surprised how much clutter you can accumalate!

Febreze scentstories player (I loved that machine, but I could never find the refills).

Yup, I do that all the time. For example, I just *needed* an electric guitar and so got one and used it like once or twice and realized I hate tuning it... so now it's sitting there, never being used and I can't seem to sell it (though I did try, and will continue to try).
