Do you have an emergency plan that you've talked over with your loved ones? If you have an emergency kit, what's in it?
I used to have a crate full of canned food and bottled water that i kept in basement, but they say you should really date everything so you can use it up before it all gets too old, and it was too much effort keeping tracking of that stuff, so i just used it all up and didn't replenish supplies. I also used to have a printout of motels I could drive to about an hour or two upstate that permitted pets. I kept this in the glove box of my car. In addition to food, of course, I would think a good emergency kit should include: * flashlights and extra batteries * radio with extra batteries * basic first aid supplies * blankets, bedding and extra clothing * food supplies for pets * supplies of toiletries, soap, shampoo, etc. Of course, without knowing exactly what kind of emergency you're preparing for, it's hard to create an emergency kit. For instance, I've read that if there were some kind of serious terrorist attack, it would be better to stay put rather than flee the area because, as we saw with Katrina, the interstates were so clogged with traffic you'd get nowhere. But if the attack involved poison gas or something else that could spread through the air, staying put could spell disaster, especially if you don't live in a newer, airtight and well insulated home. So which would it be? Flee or stay put?

Don't you have to prepare for a little bit of both?
At work I have a cardboard emergency box underneath my desk (where I'd end up underneath during an earthquake) where I keep a little food, some water, dust mask, a little First Aid kit, soap, dry socks, batteries. On top of that box, I have a grab sack - a little plastic grocery bag with energy bars, a bottle of water, and money both bills and change. |

GUYS!! don't forget the rumsfeld recomended Duct Tape.
that would prolly be a good seller.. Rumsfeld's DuctTape... I'd keep the idea to myself, but i cant come up with the funding to start up my own glue company, but it would be amusing to see that, so i make it a public thought lol |
