I am gonna kinda quit my job that I have now I will still do it but just a few times a month not 3 or 4 days a week. I am starting a new job in a week & its making me sick!! I dont know why I am so worried about money anymore I am just concerned it wont work out. I am just concerned because of my kids I geuss even though I am not the main income earner its still givng me a uneasy feeling I am so nervous. My income does help me & the kids alot.
I geuss I feel like I should do my best to contribute to the family & I am so nervous that I wont know what to do or something. DOes anyone else get this way when starting a new job. I know I felt nervous before about starting new jobs I geuss part of it is I will be at home working in a home office I am nervous the kids will not realize I am "unavailable" at that time & interupt I was offered FT outside the home but with daycare costs it wouldnt be worth it & I dont like the idea of the kids being raised by babysitters either ya know. I know sometimes we have no choice in that though because I have been single with a child & HAD to have my dd in daycare even though I hated it. So I am really really hoping this all works out for the best any advice to calm my nerves. I now get so I cant sleep when I get this worried. |

I know that whenever I do something new I get nervous. Doing something big like changing jobs only compounds the nervousness, but once you get there and get settled in a bit, most of it should go away. Good luck and try not to get too overanxious. I'm sure that you'll do great.

I really did not like my first job. I didn't have any work and I didn't really like the people I worked with (small company with 13 employees). I was so nervous about changing though. I figured out it was because I was so comfortable with the situation. I went to work, knew exactly what to expect, how to act. With changing jobs, I wanted a better situation, but I didn't know what it was going to be like. I would have almost rather stayed at the crappy job then find a better one. I think that happens to a lot of people. So take a chance, you'll like it.

Starting a new job is always uncomfortable for me, but i think being nervous is good because it gives you the energy and incentive to really make a good first impression and work hard.
I've been working all my life as a marketing/PR writer, so you'd think i could sit back and just relax because i have a great deal of experience, but, no, i always worry that i won't be able to handle a new job because it's a new industry or field, but that's never been the case. i've found that the degree of nervousness when starting something new has no bearing AT ALL on how well i'll do on the job. |

Uncertainty is the biggest thing that holds people back many times. What I have discovered though is changing jobs can be one of the most refreshing things in the world. It stimulates your mind and gives you a new perspective on a way of doing business.
Everyone is afraid of change. I am no different. Just so you dont feel alone, I received a job offer yesterday. Salary alone is 30% higher then current, better bonus, as well as options and a signing bonus. It is back in California where I want to be. Yet at the same time I am thinking, maybe I should stay in this position. Its cushy, I know what to expect. Don't let that thinking stop you. Go in and work hard and take it as a new learning experience! On another note this job will probably crush me with work so dont know how much I will be posting anymore. ![]() |

There's always nervousness when changing jobs...all the things that you DON'T know, I guess...but, hey, in 2 weeks things are generally "normal" again ...if you are working from home, try to stick to a schedule and tell your kids about it....depending on their ages, you could even put up a sign so they know when you are "unavailable" as you say....(if they can read, it can say: Mommy's at work if they can't, do it two-sided, with one side red and the other one green....Green means mommy is available...red means you have to wait!
Good luck! ![]() |

I love changing jobs, especially when it involves learning new things and acquiring new skills. The only reason I have stayed at my current job for so long (six years), is that they treat me so well and the company is big enough that I can try something new every couple of years. I could probably go into consulting and make a lot more money, but it would be hard to find someplace that fits me so well. |
