Do you enjoy saving money?
When I first started reucing my debt, I hated saving money. I thought that everything I did to reduce my debt was taking something away from me and it was a real struggle for a time. But I found that over time, I enjoyed saving money and the challenge to find new ways to save money. has anyone else evolved to think of saving this way?

Re: Do you enjoy saving money?
Definitely. I practically get high when a company pays me for one of their products. Other kinds of saving are fun too.

Not saving per se, but I enjoy adding to my bank balances and watching them rise.

Yes, I enjoy saving money. When I first get my check I have them deduct $60 off the top, then I put money in my EF. I figure I work my bottom off so I might as well pay myself first then my bills.

Re: Do you enjoy saving money?
Well I like seeing the CC bill get smaller each month, but I dunno if I have hit a 'like saving' point yet. more of a 'like not going into debt more'

I don't like saving money but love seeing interest figures that can actually buy something substantial!

Re: Do you enjoy saving money?
Saving is like a game to me ~ I actually enjoy it. Clipping coupons, acquiring savings tips, using thrift stores + consignment, rebates, etc. I LOVE IT. I am blessed to do it more because I am inherently frugal than out of necessity. I believe it's because I first taught at a Catholic school making a ridiculously low salary, and had to quickly get used to it. Now I live below my means. (Although it's close sometimes...)

Re: Do you enjoy saving money?
I enjoy the game and seeing my balances rise. I hate to spend my savings, I mean truly hate it. Just last night I had something come up where I was debating paying last night or waiting until Friday. I hated going to my savings account but I did, knowing that I'll pay myself back on Friday but I just hated the concept. I had to tell myself that is what I have the savings for, its ok to take from it. Strange but true.

I can definitely understand that, it seems like I worked so hard to save the money, that I don't want to part with it (may not be a healthy money attitude). Generally, as long as I work to put the money back into savings relatively quickly, I try not to beat myself up over it.

Re: Do you enjoy saving money?
yes, saving money has caused me to get a lot of the things I really want instead of little trinkets. Owning a house feels better than having a mortgage. owning my car is better than paying that monthly payment and it is good to have some money stashed for hard times.

My savings happen automatically. If I don't have it that way the money just goes.

Honestly I do like to save but I'd be less than truthful if I said I do not like to spend. I have found a happy medium whereby I keep spending to a reasoable amount that is appropriate!

Yes! I get a real high putting money away, either in savings or paying off a loan. I get a thrill at finding a good deal.
There are things I like spending money on, but mostly I can do without.

I love to save. I also have the hardest time spending as a result. I usually make good spending decisions, so once I take the plunge, I always find the spending of savings gratifying! Of course, I don't spend all the savings.

When I was paying down my credit cards, I got a sense of accomplishment as each account was zeroed out and I could focus on the next.
That satisfaction has now transferred to the accumulation side, and I find a real satisfaction in watching my savings balances grow.
I can't say I get much pleasure out of spending these days, probably because I've done too much of it in the past.
