Re: Favorite money saving saying, adage, poem, or story!
How about "Buying what you "Want" often results in "Needing" what you can't buy"
When I first started on my road to frugality I saw this saying on the internet somewhere , can't remember where now , but I wrote this down on a piece of paper and kept it in my purse for the longest time. Whenever I went out and about if there was something that I wanted it would always be in my subconcious and I would think....do I really need this? Is there something at home which I might be able to use instead and save the extra $ or if I buy this and the kids might get sick and "Need" medicine etc.....
Amazing what a few choice words can do

Re: Favorite money saving saying, adage, poem, or story!
All good money saving sayings. I have one...
<b>"When opportunity knocks, don't be caught outside looking for a 4 leaf clover"</b>
I can't remember the exact quote, but it is close to this.

Re: Favorite money saving saying, adage, poem, or story!
"Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies it never goes to the hospital; it works on Sundays and holidays; it never takes a vacation. ... Once in debt, interest is your companion every minute of the day and night; you cannot shun it or slip away from it; you cannot dismiss it; it yields neither to entreaties, demands, or orders; and whenever you get in its way or cross its course or fail to meet its demands, it crushes you."

Spend it like you don't have it, then you will have it to spend it.
In otherwords, save it till you need it.
