Default Ebay & Online Auctions

I have had a growing urge to sell on Ebay. What kinds of things do you all sell, and what experiences have you had with different online auction sites? What are your experiences with selling and any problems you may have encountered?

I was thinking of all my psychology books, lamps, fishing gear, etc.

I sell stuff mostly to get it out of the house, so I'm not all that concerned about profit. If you are concerned about profit make sure you do your research. Regretfully lots of stuff isn't worth much of anything. As far as problems: Make sure to get accurate shipping expenses BEFORE you post. (www.usps.com to a far away zip code -- I always use 90210 )

I mostly sell things I have won. Sweepstaking is a hobby of mine and I often win things I don't really want, so ebay is a good way to go. I have had no trouble selling these items. Occasionally I also sell books but I generally sell them on half.com or amazon.

Hi,

I started selling on eBay in 1998. Boy...the good 'ol days. Made some nice money back then. Through the years though, the competition has grown considerably, and my profit margins are not as high. There are so many duplicate items now. I, personally, don't find the same thrill selling on eBay as I used to. I still do, but it's just not quite the same...for me that is.

On the other side of the coin, there are literally hundreds of people (so I read), that are making a pretty nice living selling on eBay. Many of the Powersellers use dropshipping services, and do quite well.

It's certainly worth a good try. Everyone and every situation is different.

Good Luck!

Fran

I think that when you sell on eBay for a profit it would definitely pay to do some research. Using good keywords in the title helps.

Hope this helps!

I quit selling on ebay, I was making a profit but since everything was in my hubbys name I would get paid then goes straight into his account and never get the money back to re invest to make larger profits..... so I gave up, until hubby allows me to get my initial money back to re invest I aint gonna bother!
