Default When is it not polite to ask for a discount?

Are there certain times that it is not polite to ask for a discount?

I don't think there's ever not a good time. What's the worse that they can do? They can just say no, and give you a mean look. Just don't visit them again.

Now if it's a friend, it gets a little touchier. I'd say joke around about getting one, and see how they take it.

I don't know. I've never been able to ask. So I probably pay more than I should.

Even when I go over into Mexico, I pay the price they ask. Often, though, it's because the price is so good that it just doesn't seem right to not pay it. I know I could get them to come down, but they need it more than I do.

I don't ever see an inappropriate time... You have not because you ask not. Sometimes you might not get a discount, but asking never hurt anything. As I have the right to ask, I realize the retailer has the right to say "no" but thats not so bad, I just know better next time not to ask there.
