Have you ever won a contest? What was the prize?

I was the xth caller in to a radio show and won a year's free gym membership.

Another time, i wrote the winning essay entry for a mother's day contest and won a diamond ring (boy, was it tiny) for my mother! Unfortunately, i misplaced the essay and so did the jewelry store sponsoring the contest, coincidentally, but we got the ring.

Won a door prize at a builder's trade show once, can't remember what i won.

won lots of food items mostly on an online game show, thepriceisright.com, when they were new and giving away 3 free games daily.

My walking hobby here in Japan! Japan has a ton of "proof of purchase" contests mainly with canned beverages (it's also the vending machine capital of the world). Anyway, most cans have stickers on them that you can collect and send in for possible prizes. Since I love to walk, one of the things I started doing was picking off the seals of the cans and sending them into the contests and I've won a ton of stuff doing so - the most expensive was a gold set worth about $500. Also lots of clothes (T-Shirts, jackets, etc), travel bags, BBQ set, tennis rraquet. Too many to name. The walks help clean up Japan (I pick up the garbage along my walking routes - always leave a place cleaner - what my grandfather taught me when we used to walk together), get some exercise and the chance to win contests all at the same time.

I've won several radio contests. Nothing that was really great, free movie tickets a couple of times, the best was a $15 giftcard to albertson's (supposed to be to buy flowers, I used it to buy groceries).

I've won a couple of door prizes, a book and a magazine subscription.

I'm still waiting to win a sweepstakes prize from all the online sites I visit. I wonder if those are really true? Harris Poll has a sweepstakes which would be nice to win.

Yes I usually win several a month although they are usually just small wins. It is kind of a hobby for me. My dil got me started...she wins much much more than me and bigger prizes too! But I usually win 4-10 prizes a month. One win I esp liked was a years subscription to the Mvelope's service...an online budgeting service. Since I was paying for it anyway...and I love the program, it was a very nice, useful win! There's even a picture of me and my dh along with a little about us and how we use Mvelopes in the new book they have about handling your finances! When I won this, a magazine also called and interviewed me...I have forgotten the name of the magazine and don't even know if they used the interview but it was exciting just to be interviewed!

Some other things I have won: a portable DVD player, 14 bottles of shampoo and conditioner (14 each), several books, several gift certificates/gift cards ($1, $5, $10, 25, $50 (2) & $100) , golf balls, computer game, a stuffed bear, several caps, raingear, CD labeler, a spool of media, small amounts of cash ($10-100), ebooks, cologne, fishing lures, spa mud bath products, 3M products, several music CDs, digital camera, free soda, frusion, road atlas, gum, several posters, popcorn, makeup and skincare products , switchplates, badmitton racquet, lots of T-shirts, socks, subscription to a sweeps site (2), backpacks(2), 2 tickets to Portland Trailblazer game, movie tickets, Gift baskets (2), Records, computer cleaner, tickets to a museum, canned food, diabetic lancets, TV seasons DVDs of 2 shows, and a hammock to name a few things I've won through the past almost 4 years.

My dh LOVES his hammock! :-) oh, and one time my dh bought 2 lottery tickets and put my name on one. My ticket won $2000!! Went for car repairs and we were very thankful for it.

Never, I never win anything. DH on the other hand used to win tons before he married me, I tell him he used up all his luck in finding me .

I won a mobile phone when I was at university in a uni newspaper competition. Those were easy competitions to win because they only ever had 10 people enter (a fact they advertised each week!) That's my kind of odds

I've won a Star Wars DVD from Juicy Fruit, and a $75 GC to KMart, various small items-I enter stuff all the time!

Like Jeffrey, I walk daily, and I often pick up litter as i go. some if it I either put ont he curb for recycling or collect modest credit for with can redemptions.

I size up contests a bit before deciding to enter. If the odds seem reasonable,like a car raffle sponsored locally here in town, I'll go for it but i hardly ever play the lottery since the odds are so high.

When I lived in Chile, I played bingo once and won a VCR. I gave it to a friend's host family because they didn't have the money to buy one. Remembering the look of shock on my friend's host mother's face still makes me smile. MY host mother was not pleased with me, but they already had 2 or 3 VCRs in their house, so whatever. I've won smaller things too, but that one really sticks out in my mind.

Great win, some1shy! Do you use a particular website. I like Online-sweepstakes.com and I also enjoy the forums at sweepers-haven.com. It's a friendly place to talk about sweeping and relax though they do post sweeps there too.

thanks i am a member of online-sweepstakes i signed up for premium membership to get extra competitions that is how i won the $1,000 it was listed as a premium sweep on the site.. it rocks

This was a real fluke, but I won an all-expenses paid week-end trip to New York to see Sting in concert. It included a room at a posh hotel, back-stage passes, a pre-concert lunch, an after party, plus a bunch of other stuff.

It was awesome.

The only contest I can ever remember winning was in 3rd grade Best costume (fairy princess!), and I got to choose between a sparkly pen and a six pack of squeeze-its. I was sooo excited

Also, during college my roomate entered a drawing for a trip to Hawaii. She didn't win the trip, but she did win the picnic table. It was a pentagon and had 6 individual benches, an umbrella, and was about 6 feet across. We ended up walking it back to our apartment which was two blocks away from the grocery store she won it at - we recruited some box boys to help . For poor college students who at the time only had one piece of furniture, a free wooden picnic table was very exciting

I've won a few things from radio call-ins: haunted house tickets, and a No Doubt "Tragic Kingdom" CD autographed by the entired band. I'm holding it and hoping it'll be worth something some day!
