I am currently paid bi-weekly. I used to receive pay monthly. Monthly pay makes it hard towards the end of the month.

We have 4 paychecks a month. All go directly into our checking account and 3 of them come in the first 3 days of the months (actually 2 on the 1st and 1 on the 3rd). Then we have another check that arrives on the third Wed. of the month. I kinda like this because with the first 2 checks we pay our regular bills, with the 3rd and 4th, we split up our household spending...like each of our allowances, grocery money etc. Anything that often people use cash for although we don't always take it all in cash.

I get paid once a month.. So I schedule my bills and spending around that once a month date... Its always the same amount each month too, so budgeting is easier that way.. Would be much easier if i got more income permonth, but thats life....

Job pays monthly. Second gig pays every two weeks. Third gig if I can set it up will pay monthly. Life has become, in terms of work, a chunk of change here and another one there!

I get paid weekly with one job, while my other one pays bi-weekly. I also get money from my book tours' sales. The honorariums pay my travel/tour expenses, as I'm out on my own now- publishing my own books. I actually like it better this way. Sometimes I have paypal payments for cookbook sales. I set up at flea markets with my line of Amish jams/sorghum in the summer and early fall, but end up spending alot shopping!

Direct Deposit every Thursday for DH and I.

I get paid on the last working day of the month - at least for one more month until I lose my job!
DH gets paid each week. I prefer to get everything ONCE a month. |

dh gets paid every other week, i get paid the 15th and the last day of the month. pretty much works out to a check every week, which makes budgeting oh so much easier!

I get paid bi-weekly and have always budgeted that way until lately. I now have enough that I pay my bills, transfer money to savings and fund my envelopes (yes I use the envelope system for day to day expenses) on the first day of the month using money from the last month. My budget is based on the two paycheck months so the third usually ends up in a savings fund.

Hubby gets paid fortnightly. The amount varies from paycheck to paycheck. Can by anywhere from $1300 a fortnight to $2500 depending on how many days he has been in the field.

I am paid once a month for 9 months. No options. I do not get a pay check in July August or September. This is very annoying. I haven't managed to get through an entire summer without borrowing money from somewhere.I'd love a 12 month pay plan How do you do it Diva Jen

Not Diva Jen, but it sounds like you need to save 25% of those paychecks and budget to live on the 75% remaining. Then draw off the savings during the summer.
So if your paycheck is $2000/month, bank $500 each month, live on the other $1500. $500 x 9 months = $4500. Take out $1500/month in July, August and September, then start over for the next year. Man, that requires a hideous amount of discipline. Yet another reason I'd never make it as a teacher! ![]() |

Husband gets paid weekly and I get paid bi-weekly.

Twice a month , 15th and 1st, however depending on the cash flow situation and it being a small firm sometimes they try and stretdh it out (i.e. bookkeeper calls into to say she can't make it until after 6 p.m. on payday to write the checks) this really annoys me and they know this now so they do my check even if they do no one else's that day! Sometimes it pays to be the squeaky wheel!

Oh forgot to say dh gets paid whenever he does a tattoo or piece of art(paid on the spot) and when he does roofing and construction he gets paid weekly

I know that savings money from my check works in theory. I do have about 25% of my paycheck put into a savings account but somehow it never seems to work in reality. I can usually make it until the middle of September then I get desperate. This inconvenience is minor compared to how much I absolutely love my job. I just wish that they would create a 12 month pay plan for faculty. They do it for secretaries why not us?

I pay my husband every monday morning, except I make the check out to me. I cash the check, get the cash and bring it home and put it in all my envelopes!

Threadjacking time -- It sounds like there's some sort of a hole in your budget if you're running out after putting back that 25% all year. Do you have a lot more expenses over the summer? Travel, eating out more, back to school supplies, something? |
