Default Is this right?

I have a friend who found out she only has about 6 months to live. Although she is sick, she can still get around. What she has been doing is applying for all the credit card offers that have come in the mail to her and now has about $100,000 in credit (see never had bad credit before this)

She is planning to use the credit cards to travel in style to the places that she has always dreamed about going before she is too ill to do so. Of course she is only planning to make the minimum payments on the credit cards.

I don't blame her, but is it right for her to do this?

I am very sorry to hear about your friend.

The ethical question is a tough one to answer. Obviously, she has no intention of paying back the money she borrows on the credit cards as she knows she is going to die. It doesn't seem she is doing anything illegal...she is planning to pay the minimum on all the cards which is all the cards ask for. Still, I'm not sure it it is a morally right thing to do or not.

I guess the question is if she has relatives who may have to take on this debt?

My prayers go out to your friend.

Even under those circumstances, however, I don't think what she is doing is right. She is taking money with no intention of paying it back and that is never the proper thing to do.

Its just sad. I had the same situation with a dear friend. She was divorce and very bitter about it. Had 2 sons in their teens, that lived with their father.

She wanted to leave them something as the illness depleted everything. So she applied to the cc's. It took awhile for me to catch on and when she finally told me, well I did'nt know what to think. In my mind and heart it was wrong. Wrong for me anyhow but I did not judge her.

When her family found out they were very upset, I don't think anyone was held responsible for the debt she incrued but it caused hurt between them.

Thats been several years ago. The family is prominent and my friend still does not have a headstone, I don't understand that either.
