Default Is this legal - job woes...I want my raise!

I need help! I got promoted at my job a month ago but now I'm being told my raise won't go into effect until July 1 and I won't be getting back pay.... Is this legal? If it is, what can I do about it???????????? I've been working a much higher level job for a month and am getting compensated with my old crappy pay. Luckily some other people here are in the same boat - strength in #'s, ya know? How do we proceed?

I do not think that there is any illegal about that unless they provided you in writing that they would starting paying you a new dollar amount and a date.

You could always go to the labor board in your state.

If nothing else, try and get when exactly it will go into effect in writing. I can just see them delaying it again once July 1 comes around.
