Hi everyone! I'm glad I found this forum, I've belonged to a couple, but when I found this one it seemed so.... homey. Good advice and good conversation!

I'm from Delaware, and to me saving money is like a sport. I like the simple things in life: gardening, reading, taking walks.

I've recently returned to school after 20 years.. very time consuming, and I need to learn how to balance being busy with being frugal.

Anyway... great site!

Hello all,
I was directed to this group from the Dollar Stretcher site and have really enjoyed what I have been able to read so far.
A little about me - I am 53 and raised three children on my own working as a nurse. They are all adults and have flown the coop so about a year and a half ago I quit nursing full time to pursue a dream. I now am nursing just a few days a month to 'keep my hand in' and am now a stay at home foster parent. I currently have a special needs 1yr old, a 2 yr old and a 15yr old living with me.
The chance in life however cut my income by 2/3 and although that is still manageable, I didn't change my life style and ran up some cc debt. I would like to get rid of that and start socking away some money for the day I retire.
Looking forward to learning lots and perhaps offering some help when I can.

Welcome, ladydii. Interesting story you have. Looking forward to reading more about it and helping out if I can.

Hi everyone! My name is Helena, and I've got an off-kilter sense of humor as you may gather from my user name.

I am an environmental engineer who understands that frugality often goes hand in hand with good environmental practices.

I am also a single woman who has become the husband I always wanted to marry My only financial safety net is the one I provide for myself, so I am driven to work hard and to protect what is mine.

While always pretty good with money, I've become particularly aware of the importance of frugality over the past few years and how grateful I will be tomorrow for money saved today. I started tracking my saving & spending habits on an Excel spreadsheet and realized that some improvement was needed. My goal was to live off of no more than 60% of my income (based on The 60% Solution). In the past year, I've managed to live off of about 50% of my income. Not bad for a relatively high cost of living area. While proud of this accomplishment, there is always room for improvement. So I'm here to learn and to swap ideas.

Wink Hello

Hi everyone! Mendy here. I am a SAHM (first time in my life) to 2 beautiful daughters. I am a coupon & freebie junkie! Which money so tight these days we need all the help we can get. We are trying very hard to get rid of all our credit card debit. I am hoping we can get some good ideas and information on this site to help accomplish this goal.

Happy 2009!

Hello All,

This is my first post on the saving advice forum. In 1997, at the age of 20, I decided that I wanted to be wealthy and not live paycheck to paycheck. I started living below my means, saving, and investing in low cost index funds. I started with $1000 and by dollar cost averaging every month I reached my goal of a six figure portfolio before I tuned thirty. I am now working on building a seven figure portfolio and plan on reaching it by my early forties. I know that I will receive good advice on reaching my goals here and hope that I can pass along some good advice from my own experiences as well.

stay the course,

DF
