I'm new here. I have been "lurking around" a bit for a few weeks. I love to travel. I do it every chance I get. I've been to over 45 different countries and I hope to reach at least 100 in my lifetime. I'm always looking for ways to save money so that I can travel more as well as travel longer and that is how I stumbled in here. I don't think you'll see me writing much (unless it is travel related), but I thought I'd let everyone know that I am around reading.

Hi. I'm Diane and I live in upstate New York

A friend recently made me aware of this forum so I thought I'd check it out. I am retired and currently spend my time making money on line.

No.....not those ridiculous $10,000s you see those ads for....I just manage to trickle in a little each month and it helps.

It's not easy and I'm looking for ways to make that money go further. I'm hoping to learn a lot here and maybe I'll be able to help too

Default Question

Hello

I just joined the site. When I joined there was something about referals and points and I wanted to read more about it but couldn't find the information. Where can I find it?

Thanks!

Cheryl

Default Just Saying Hello (how to save a ton of money)

People call me RC.

I'm not the "typical" person looking to save money. I fully understand the futility of money, and don't have much use for the stuff. (this from an ex-corporate guy who used to chase the stuff with a passion)

Time is not money, time is life. We waste our lives chasing money, which we then use to buy material things.

These things themselves consume our time. They must be painted, polished, cleaned, fixed, or put away. Ultimately, these things are gone... broken or lost or stolen or simply forgotten.

So I have come to see money and the material things it brings as a slow form of suicide. We trade life (time) for things that disappoint us, sooner or later.

I haven't bought anything on credit since 1988. I have no debt of any kind, and few monthly bills. I will tell you how to save a lot of money...

One day a month, eat only bread and drink only water. That night, sleep on the floor. The next morning, you will awaken and know the difference between needs and desires.

Buy the things you need right away, but only buy the things you desire after a month has passed, and only then if you can pay cash for them. If you have to buy it on credit, you can't afford it.*

Be well,

RC Boyd
FutureScent

*PS: yes yes, there are exceptions, like houses and what not.

Natural-Indulgence: It's good to have you hear. I am looking forward to hearing how you do your finances.

Also, by doing that one day bread and water diet also makes you a little healthier since you are letting your vital organs take a rest. It helps to naturally detoxify your body as well. We could all use that.

Hello, I'm Alex from Livonia, MI (bout 10 mins west of detroit, MI). I'm 21, single working on Railroad full time. I go to school part time. I'm not really that frugal, but only thing I excessivly spend my money on is Beer and/or Alcohol. I owe money on a piece of **** car i bought a while back that im trying to sell to cut my losses, aside from that i have no Home, car, or anything payments.

I'm kinda here cuz i wanna learn how to make the most of my stagnant money by means of passive building though methods im yet to learn about.

I like to play guitar, drink w/ my buddies, go out on boats, spark up bonfires, and play video games and ****. Just moved back into my mommy's house so i'm pretty much bill free.

Life's been good so far

Hi, I'm new to posting here after lurking for awhile. I'm a longtime homemaker and student looking to get back into the work force soon. I consider debt free living a worthy goal although I may never get there entirely, and bargin shopping is not only a hobby but one of my defining characteristics. I get angry when I realize a deal too late or after already making my purchase...but I guess we can't win them all ehh?

Hello all!

My name is Greg and have been a lurker here for a little while. I am 25 and currently work at a photography studio as the Photoshop guy. I also do web design on the side whenever I can find clients. When I have time I also like to do some photography, esp. concerts.

I am a complete newbie when it comes to investing, but I hope to change that with the advice on these forums.

I'm new here and am here because I have seen parents/friends/relatives fall into crippling debt and want to avoid the same fate. I'm off to a good start: I just graduated from a UC and have only 15K to pay back and just got a good job that's paying me 45K before taxes (which are ridiculous). I am not the most frugal person in the world (I like to buy clothes, go to sporting events, play poker with friends) but I do want to be smart about my money and that's why I'm here.

I just found out the site, seems interesting. I'm Ciprian from Romania(count Dracula lives 300 km away from me and I'm seeing financial drama daily at my friends and my parents and my friend's parents and other people, and I'm really motivated to do something about it and help others in the process.

I graduated computer science university and I'm starting business administration university this year(can't hardly wait!!). With this in mind I started my own financial matters blog and I'm trying to learn more every day on the internet, things that I can apply and understand. I'm mostly interested at the moment in stock trading and real estate investments but also a very important part is personal finance, which imho holds the key to personal wealth and success on the long run.

Default Introduction

Please excuse me if I am posting this in the wrong location. I thought I'd take a second and introduce myself before posting.

My name is Ron. I'm 29 and live in Ohio. Stumbled upon this site through a search engine and liked what I saw. Thanks for putting a place like this out there for us. What a great resource. I look forward to getting to know you.

Ron
