Hello! I'm Marissa, I'm from El Salvador. I'm a single mom, trying to "get up" after surviving a divorce, becoming a single mom, losing my job and supporting my parents (who had no income at all for 2 years, no insurance, no medical coverage, nothing!) ...I was raised with the idea that money is to "spend it while you have it", yet, somehow, I used to save my money and always made sure I had a little "cushion"...then life happened and now I'm fighting a debt that is twice as much as I make in a year!...I come to this site for new ideas and, also, for inspiration and company (most of my coworkers live in a different world, financially speaking, they are all young, single, not paying rent, which means the money they make -and I'm the assistant, so they all make more than I do! - can be used whichever way they choose (some invest, some just spend!)...my salary basically goes into paying debts and the very basics: food, rent, childcare, medical care...

Hello,
As my sign on shows, I have two children. They are sons and are both happily married to 2 very special DIL's! DH and I retired early. Me at 50; he at 54. We built our dream retirement home 2 years prior to retirement. And then when DH retired we moved cross country to enjoy the sunshine. Where we live, we never see snow except on TV and I like it that way. We love being retired and doing our own thing. Momtwo |

Hi,
I'm Sharon from Atlanta Georgia. I'm a state worker by day, owner of a mortuary and embalmer by night. I am an event planner so on the weekend I'm either doing an event of some sort of a funeral. I used to be a K-5th grade teacher (for eight years) but quit when a 1st grader pulled a knife on me. Not that I was scared, well I was... but I thought it best that I remove myself from that situation before some mother ended up childless. I'm cheap...way past frugal. I believe in spending money wisely and getting the most for every penny I spend. I'm single with no children and no prospects at this time. I hang out here to get tips on how to further the stretch of my dollars. |

Hi! My name is Laura. I am an elementary teacher, single, with no kids. I found this site via a reccomendation of a poster on one of the Frugal chatboards I read daily. I have dealt with a lot of ups and downs financially, and am ready to keep it to the ups!

I am a sahm of 2 girls, 13 & 14. My husband lives in a different state as he is trying to save up enough money to move here. Long Story. We live 14 miles from town on 5 acres with very few nieghbors. We have had a milking cow, a horse, chickens, & a rabbit. But now we just have dogs, cats, & composting worms. It is gross to change the worm bin. It looks like some horror movies prop with all those squiggly things. When we had the cow, we made our own ice cream, butter, & cheese. That was nice.
I found the site from a referal on another list I'm on. |

Somebody must be spreading the word (hear Nate and Jeffrey cheering wildly in the background) because we've seen an increase in the number of new members signing up. We're glad to have you here and hope we can continue to provide useful information on saving.

Hi! My name is Kris and I'm engaged to be married this October 1, 2005!! Like everything else in my life, I want to keep costs down. In fact, I'm hoping to stick to a $5000.00 budget. However , I live paycheck to paycheck and don't know if this will be possible. I guess I'd better start saving soda cans (5 cents for each returned can!! ). anyway, this site seems to be really good, I just need to go back to work now, so I'll have to check it out more in depth later
Thanks!! |

Jeffrey, I have been spreading the word on the Prairie Homemaker site and the group called Frugal-Folks-Life group through yahoo groups. Heehee btw, I would recommend both.
