Hi Amber,

Not to promote debt, but of all the money you could borrow, student loans are the cheapest; I am paying back my loans from seminary, which I went to full time, at a rate that is under 3%. I had to think about how long it would take me to get through school with no loans as opposed to how soon I could get done and make more money with a job in my field. Everyone's tolerance for debt is different, but if your degree is going to make a differenc in your earning potential, you might want to give that a thought....

I found this site back in February and I love it. I had been looking for a site with well designed especially for financial purposes and this is the one. I am a part-time student paying my way through school (no loans) no children and I have about $5000.00 in debt. I am hoping I will learn so much from you guys that I can share your thoughts and views with others.
Thanks for all your responses as well as post

I am a 21 year old College Senior at DeVry University that is majoring in Computer Engineering. I found this board to be a good place to find advice and other money saving ideas.

Welcome Roupet03 to Saving Advice. You have come to the right place for that kind for information, just ask and read, or start you own journal. I think they are a few collage students on this forum too!

Hello all,
I am 19 years old and have a big problem. I have an overspending addiction. Recently I have been using other people's credit cards to buy things. I've gone into my mom's purse a few times too. I am in serious trouble and need help. So I decided to come here to learn how to stop my addiction. Does anyone have any tips and/or advice?

Regards,
Jesse

You need professional help before this turns into a legal problem, if it hasn't already. Tips and advice are fine, but you need to turn to a counselor.

Wow, is there anybody in Minn., that can help Jesse? Jesse, you need to come on one of the other threads and say this again. Too often the introduce yourself thread gets ignored by those that could help you.
Go to frugal advice or something, and ask this question again, start a new topic!

I'm a 47 year old woman in a Midwest US city. I'm married with one child who is off to college at the end of summer. We have no debt except our house. We had a 23% drop in our income at the end of last year and do not expect to replace it. This does not cause us any panic since we have always happily lived below our means. We have many ways to share our good fortune with others. I beleive that sharing is one of the reasons to live frugally.

HI all. I am a claytons single mum of two wonderful kids aged 9 and 7. We live in the fabulous city of Newcastle, Australia, about an hour and a half north of Sydney on the coast. My hubby works away and flys home for a week once a month.
We are very frugal and are on the constant lookout for what we call "Barrys" which is short for "Barry Bargain". One of the first words our kids learnt was "Barry"

My name is Luke. I am 25 years old and from Minnesota. I've been a saver my whole life, and have recently become an investor. My wife and I are both college graduates and have good jobs. Our goal is to retire in 12-15 years, or about the time we are 40. We both work full-time and I have a side-business that I run out of our home (a web development company).
Our goal is to have $1,000,000 in liquid assets in 9 years. I love watching the stockmarkets and am working on some sophisticated market analysis computer programs. I also like watching Jim Cramer on CNBC.

Hi, Im Trillian, aka MartyAnne Whited. I live in Cleveland currently, with my S0 of two years and his (now our) cat. Im a stay at home kitty momma. I have run my own transcription business, but am taking a break and focusing on selling Mary Kay cosmetics and working on wellness....since my health has me on disability. Fixed income at 32 means Im in this for the long haul on money savvy!

Im an internet junkie, so I like to know at the end of each day I have added some smidgeon of added net worth to the whole -- be it a freebie, a coupon deal, a way to stretch money, etc. Of course, I have a ways to go in cleaning up my youthful credit indiscretions.

I had been posting my own googled freebie lists to a womens forum on a BBS and finally looked around at existing resources. I had been deathly afraid of the scams out there, and had done my own lists to be sure the offers were straight from the source companies -- I only want Jelly Bellys if they come straight from jellybelly.com kind of thing

Now it's a big thing for me to share my finds and strategies with others.

I'm Tim and I'm an alcoholic... wait wrong board, actually I'm about to get married, start pharmacy school (at texas tech), and turn 22, all before sep 1.

Both my wife to be and I are intending on saving money and staying out of debt (her student loans aside), and we also both want to try to take some of what little we have and growing it so we can have some play money, even though it won't be much. We just opened a MM with ING and I am looking to put a very small amount of money into the stock market (mostly for fun). Anyway, it's good to be here, I've learned a lot already in just a few days.
