Default Vegetable Oil Car???

Does anyone know anything about a car that can run on vegetable oil? I was talking with a friend last night and she said that there were cars that don't take gas, but run on vegetable oil. Is this true or am I having a joke played on me again?

Yes, they are real. Basically, you get a converter for a diesel engine truck or car (the original diesel engines were designed to run on peanut oil). You can find out more information about them at GreaseCar.com

I need to get me one of those...fill up at the local chinese restaurant for free. Certainly sounds like a deal! I'm not sure having my car smell like egg rolls would be the best, but would be willing to give it a try

I was in Hawaii few weeks ago for a friend's wedding and there is a rental car outfit out there now that runs cars on vegetable oil. We didn't use them, but I saw their ads on the side of the cars and I wondered what that was all about. They are called bio-beetles (the use VW bettles). There site is bio-beetle.com
