Default Cars with good gas mileage

Does anyone know where I can find a listing or web page giving different cars and the gas mileage they get?

DH and I are considering getting a car with MUCH better gas mileage, due to the incredible increase in gas prices, and want to know how to research this. I've been unsuccessful so far finding such a site.

Thanks!

Jean

Even better than cars that get good gas mileage, visit the edmunds true cost calculator. This will let you see how much it will cost to own the car including everything and that is what you really need to know.

We used that tool when we bought our '98 chevy prizm 2 years ago. That car has been great! I think it's one of the best-kept secrets that the prizm is a corrolla, just cheaper b/c it's not Toyota. (we get ~30 mpg).

That is an interesting link. For fun I compared a Prius with a convertible Beetle (both new). They were only 1 cent different in their cost per mile. Of course, those calculations are based on 15,000 miles per year, and financing, yadda yadda and so aren't necessarily right on given different situations. Still, it was cool to do the comparisons.

Cool link! We just started car shopping for our new mini-van. I will have to see what the best one is for gas mileage.

I don't want to sound rude so forgive me if I coe across mean!! But honestly a prizm does your life really cost that cheap?? some things are ok to save money on but you get in a wreck with that you will be seriously hurt if not anything worse! I would rather pay the extra gas and now I am in a tank and will walk away with my daughter from any accident I get into, My husband would never let me leave the house in a death trap either!! Once again I do not wish to be rude!! I just want you to be safe also with your kids!!
I'll give you a true story Last year My husband worked with a man who drove a ford focus my husband told him to get rid of it and get something safe, his reply "Yeah I get 35-40 miles to the gallon Ha what do you get?" My husband told him atleast if I run into a pole I won't die, aproxiamately 6-8 months later thats exactly what he did hit a pole and die on impact!

Please forgive me If I sound rude, I am really not trying to be a nasty person, I just care very much about the sacred human life!
