Default early 90's Jeep Cherokee Larado ?

Son found an early 90's Jeep Cherokee Larado with 91000 miles 4x4 owned by a couple now that bought new they are selling cause they are 88 and giving up driving. They are asking $2000 any opinions on how these vehicles hold up? They have a clean car fax and has had all maintenance done at local garage we know.

if it has the straight 6 engine that is a 200k+ mile motor. Just keep up on the oil changes.

manual trans would be best don't know how the slushboxes hold up. Should get close to 20mpg on the highway as well.

We owned a couple of 90's model Grand Cherokees. Love driving these darn cars. Don't know the age of your son, but for 2k this reads like a decent purchase. Jeeps are prone to little stuff not working and driving one nuts. If this is a broke teen or college student, gasoline will be an expense because we never got more that 15 in town, 20 on the highway. Often saw 13 in town.

This would be an expensive vehicle to have repairs performed on, but an excellent one to learn to work on oneself.

We bought the vehicle. Its a 92 jeep cherokee larado with 91000 miles. An older couple bought it brand new they are 88 now and are giving up driving. Been serviced its whole life at a station hubby knows owners. Son is a senior in hs and has a job which will turn into full time when he graduates. Son also is in second year a local tech school for auto mech. Hes paying for it all but I found it we went and looked at it and hubby said if son doesnt want it he was buying it for when his old van dies (van just keeps going and going).

If the engine is the 4.0 then you are fine. That was a great engine and good for a few hundred thousand miles.
