I love when Dave Ramsey makes the comment like: "Did it catch them off guard? Was Christmas a different time this year?" hahaha.

Not really. I forgot we even get paid. I pay bills once a month and was surprised by our surplus lately. We've been busy. Gotta catch up.

Just not a fun bunch when it comes to payroll around here!

That said, I do look forward to sitting down each Saturday morning to see what I can do with my money - save more, pay down debts, etc. I do kinda enjoy paying bills as well. This is not the first time I would admit being strange. I have enough money to cover my bills though, that makes a big difference.
I do the payroll (and have at every job I've had for the past 11 years, and I still find it equally as fun on payday, if not more so. I love being the one who makes it happen. Everyone seems pretty happy on paydays to me. Your work place sounds weird to me, lol. I'm glad I don't work with such miserable people.

OK, I'm coming in late to this conversation. Yes, I DO get excited over payday, but not because we live pay check to pay check, or are in "desperate need." My husband and I both are paid bi-monthly, on the 15th and last day of the month. I'm the one who pays the bills, transfers money between accounts, ledgers the money in the budget, etc. Honestly, I enjoy this job, and I like seeing and knowing that the bills are paid on time, debt (mortgage) is getting paid off, charities are given money, and money is being put into savings. Money management is almost as a hobby for me! I honestly enjoy taking care of the household finances (and I do a darn good job at it, too!)

I'm paid weekly and honestly I don't pay any attention to it. I might check once every few months or before a large purchase.

I like payday because I get to update my spreadsheet. I have a few OCD issues and one of them is pertaining to money. Getting to update the spreadsheet keeps me sane. Sane is a good thing.

I don't "need" my paycheck, and I don't carry any debt aside from my mortgage, but I still enjoy getting paid. I like to see my money travel along it's little automatic transfer path. I like to see my 401k deposit. I like to see my payments to my escrow accounts and saving accounts and investment accounts. I like to see my mortgage get paid, eating away at the amount owed. I like to see the numbers!
