What happens to student finance if fail a year at university?

if I had to repeat a year would student finance decline me of finance in the future? Would they give me the full maintenance grant to repeat the year or would they maybe not support me for his year and then support me the next, upon successful completion of my second year of the programme?

That could vary depending on which university you go to.

Failing a class can mean that you are placed on financial aid probation or that your aid is terminated. If you are placed on probation or termination because of an incomplete grade, the file can be cleared when the incomplete has been changed to an acceptable grade.

I'll guess that you're Canadian or British, based on your spelling of the word program(me). Financial aid comes in so many varieties that it's impossible to give an answer to your question. Any scholarships will almost always have a minimum GPA for you to maintain. I'm not sure about regular financial aid, so if you don't have the original documents, your financial aid office should be able to clarify what your specific aid allows.

If you are British then you will not have to worry about a student loan, they will accept it, if in doubt call them and see what they say but I know people who have failed and still received a loan, if you are not British then this advice will not help you im afraid, the best option is to talk to the finance officer at your university.

I would agree that it is best to talk to the individual fin. aid department at your school. The answer could vary depending upon which country you are in; as well as whether it is a private institution or a public college.

Scholarships will have a minimum GPA required and you will be placed on academic probation. You will have an opportunity to bring the grade up but that depends on the terms of your scholarship so check with the financial aid department at your school. Typically for other forms of financial aid you will also be placed on academic probation and if you are not able to bring your GPA up to the required GPA, usually 2.0, you will be dismissed from your school and all financial aid will be terminated. You will have to start making payments after a grace period or possibly sooner. Check with your financial aid department for specifics.
