Default Car situation

So I'm in a situation with my cars right now.

I have a 2007 honda civic Si that I rushed to pay off and it felt so good doing it in 2yrs.
I was then debt free except my mortgage.

I then wanted a car for work so I bought a 2011 subaru impreza. Now I got a car payment.

I only drive my civic maybe twice a week now for fun...

I'm contemplating on selling my paid off civic and might get around $15k for it. It would feel so wrong
selling a paid off car though...especially since I paid probably $24k for it new...

Should I just keep it since its paid off?

*p.s - if I were to sell it privately do you take cash, cashiers check or what? with that kind of money i'd be scared to get scamed.

Why did you buy the Impreza? Couldn't you drive the Civic to work?

You certainly don't need two cars if you are the only driver. Selling the new car probably isn't practical so I'd sell the used one.

Sell the used car. Take a certified cashiers check, but only do it during business hours. Make the potential buyer go with you to your banking institution with the cashiers check and have them verify that it isn't fraudulant. Doing that will greatly reduce the risk that you will get scammed. Another tip that I would always do when selling used vehicles is to never let a buyer come onto my property. I would always meet them with the car in a parking lot of a local shopping plaza. Someplace with lots of open space and a fair number of people around. This keeps you safer, and it keeps a potential thief from seeing all of the stuff that you have in your garage and around your house.

And why did you buy a Subaru to commute with? Did you want the all-wheel-drive? Or the 4 doors? It gets considerable less MPG than your Civic, so I was wondering why you chose that vehicle as your daily commuter.

There is certainly nothing wrong with owning a second car "just for fun" or whatever, if you can afford it.

If you really want to sell it, only take a cashier's check. DO NOT TAKE CASH, especially if you are meeting at your home. It would be a smart idea to actually meet up at the bank the check is drawn on. He gives you the check, you verify it's good and then sign and hand over the title and the keys. Easy peasy.

I sold a car this way. I was nervous about the check because it was drawn on a little bank I never heard of or dealt with before. But the check was good, had the water marks, and the bank was cool about cashing it for me.
