Default Satellite Radio

For those of you with XM/Sirius radio, don't pay the standard monthly fee. I talked to several people over the last couple weeks who told me that they were able to call them and negotiate a subscription for less than $5 per month. They said that they had to call them several times before the customer service rep caved, but they got them way down from the standard fee (around $13 a month I think.)

Wow. That's good to know. Thanks for sharing it! I find it hard to believe you can get it for only $5 a month, but that sounds like a really good deal for satellite radio.

I found that once I was on the cheaper plan (5 months for $20 at the time) it was very easy to call up, go to retentions, and get that plan again. When I called a month ago, they had mostly done away with that plan. I got them to give me 6 months for around $28 - too chicken to gamble further. Maybe next time. It's a price I'm willing to pay though. Everyone I know with satellite pays the discounted price now.

Satellite radio will probably be dead within a few years or at least become advertising based i.e. no monthly fees.
