Whats wrong in sitting on the couch and watching TV if thats what someone wants to do in retirement? I dont know I would do that, but its a personal choice.

(I was just taking a break in some of my retirement planning stuff I have been doing and thought I'd look in to see what was going on here on the board. )

I "think" I may retire at the end of August... But, I haven't submitted my paperwork yet. The paperwork is all filled out and ready to be signed. I was thinking about have a signing ceremony with my family since they have been a part of my support team over all these years and I couldn't have done it without them.

The decision has become more black and white since my workplace moved and the commute is longer. (I really don't like the drive.) Phase one of my project is wrapping up and I have a lot of confidence in the fellow who is taking it over (he has already taken over the lead).
what do you mean by eligible to retire? One can retire any day he/she can afford and want to retire.

They are probably referring to when they can begin receiving Pensions, Social Security, etc.

Some update: We had our coworker retirement party yesterday. I was moved by her speech. Anyway, I was feeling envy at that time....pressure with work and projects deadline got to me. I'm over that now

I don't want my life to speed up just for the sake of looking for my golden age. I have two wonderful kids and wife (my pride and joy) to enjoy first before they become teenager. Someone mentioned 'enjoy' life now, coupled with good retirement planning we hope to achieve one day.
