i am not sure if this is the right forum to post in but here goes.
I'd like to increase our emergency funds and after that put more to investments. I mention when my daughter was extremely immune suppressed i could not go shopping and I noticed a big difference in our finances. I admit, i love to shop. Reading disneysteve's post on shopping really made me think. I am going on a shopping diet. Specifically I am not shopping for 30 days in an attempt to start new habits. I am going to have DH get the necessary grocieres at the store and that's it (DH is not a spender). When i go out i end up buying tons of crap for the kids. So far I have made it 2 days as i started this experiment June 1st. So far with my extra time I have spent more quality time with my family, i have decluttered more and I have been able to do more productive and intense cleaning and straightening of the house. I have to admit, this is hard. I miss Target. But I have a feeling I will see real results even in a short 30 period and i am hoping it will inspire me to continue. Thanks for listening. Here goes day #3. |

Once you finish your 'diet' (you've heard that crash diets never work long term, right? ), try setting yourself up on a cash-only spending allowance until you're better able to identify what you really need and don't need.good luck!

Good luck, you can do it! I haven't been to a mall in 12 years!
