Default I may not be where I need to be in life, but at least I'm not where I used to be...

I need to remember this evertime I try to beat myself up over not makin the right choice. At this point they are still better choices than I made 5 or 10 yrs ago.

A good reminder for most of us. We are often so focused on our goals that we forget to take a break and recognize our achievements.

I too am not where I need to be, but I am making great progress toward it. And, I have come a long way in the past few years.

Nice post irmanator. That statement you made can be applied to many areas of our life. Thanks for the reminder. I agree DS, I sometimes forget to enjoy the achievements.

Out of curiosity irmantor, when you say need to you mean your Above or below your needs? Or is this more of a " you may not be where you WANT to be" ?

There is a fine line between "need" and "want". When it involves material things, and you are on a tight budget like my family, then "wants" go on the back burner and "needs" take the front row seat in your life. But when you are talking about a job or lifestyle choice, I think you "need" to be where you "want" to be sometimes---but sometimes the last place you "want" to be is where "need" to be.

Where I think I need to be is more of a goal i guess. Something I am working towards. In my mind for me personally this fits several aspects of my life.

Trying to save.
Trying to be more physically fit.
Trying to eat better foods.

I didn't come up with this quote myself, heard it somewhere but I forgot where. I just like it, so I thought I would share it.

I've noticed I am harder on myself than anyone else could be. I tend to focus on the things I didn't do or the goals I didn't accomplish rather than what I did get done and the goals I did accomplish. Fortunately I have my wife to remind me to look at those things.

I take it as a moment of reflecting what I've learned for skills within the last 10 years, fortunate to enjoy what I do for a living (most days). Granted at 19 I was still in college, living at home, working part time at Best Buy, I definitely feel more confident and comfortable with who I am as an individual. Various regrets may still linger, while financially better off now than before. I won't categorize monetary values or possessions as of now as the reason for feeling "fortunate."

Have a good day people. =)

I agree…we have to stop being our own harshest critics and learn to love ourselves a bit more.

It's easy to fall into playing head games on yourself.

You can as my folks used to say "wish your life away". Try to enjoy the moment and your accomplishments.

There is no good fortune or bad fortune. Only good and bad choices. God isn't blessing you or damning you. You only do that to yourself.

Once you realize that you control your destiny, not some deity, or society, or "the system", or "the man" then you are free.

There is no right or wrong choice. We just do the best we can in our circumstances and learn from the outcome.
