Default Oregon?

Anyone live in Oregon? Or used to live in Oregon? I'm thinking about escaping closer to the ocean.

I have never actually lived in Oregon but have traveled along 101 through Oregon. It is sooo beautiful and I have friends from Coos Bay and they love it.
I'm from Humboldt County which is not too far from the Oregon border so it's Oregon like

I'm really thinking about relocating. I took a trip to Oregon a few years ago, and traveled along the coast, through Eugene and Salem, and a bit in Portland. I thought it was gorgeous.

I'd love to live on the coast, maybe in Florence or something, but it is such a tiny town, I doubt I would find work. I'm thinking I'll probably have to start in Portland.

Any advice? recommendations? tips? good neighborhoods to live in, bad neighborhoods to avoid?

zakity, have you lived there for a long time?

mekatsu, is Humboldt County in CA? I'd love to live there, too, but again, finding work in Northern California has got to be a challenge.

I live in Oregon, born and raised with web feet and all. Lived near Camp Pendleton, CA when hubby was a Marine back in the early 70's for about a year. I loved the area, but I sure did miss Oregon. I live in a tiny community of approx. 800 pop., Yamhill - and no - yams don't grow on our hills. Just grape vines and fruit trees and lots of forest. Yamhill is just a small hop north of McMinnville and west of Newberg. You will have to come and visit the area , lots to see and enjoy. About 45 min. drive from Beaverton and Portland.

I have lived here since 1988. As for the tips, don't buy a house in North Portland. There are a portion of the neighborhoods that aren't the greatest. We have driven through Yamhill!! Just the other weekend actually, had to go visit some family from Illinois that was visiting the beach.

My husband has family in Coquille. We run to Bandon and Coos Bay when we are down there. I love it down there and we have discussed moving down there, but the economy isn't good enough.

What field do you work in? That would be what would be the determining factor.

My field is pretty much up in the air. I'm currently working as a office coordinator, essentially. I work with executive level staff. I'd rather be working as a book, magazine, or newspaper editor. The economy is a big concern of mine, but I loved the countryside so much...

I live in Oregon & have off & on for the last 18 years. It is a beautiful state that has oceans, lakes, rivers, mountains, valleys and deserts. The only down side and it has improved a tiny bit is employment or the lack of it here. Try to line up a job before moving here, it really is difficult to find work. Oregon is one of the worsted states when it comes to the high unemployment rate. When you know where you want to move, go online look at the newspaper for that area and start applying for work & line up a job before you get here. It can take quit a while to find work no matter how qualified you are. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful place to live, cost of living is a little high in the Eugene(only because its a university town) Florence is a great little town kind of dull, but watch your driving they are very strick. Roseburg is a nice old town, but i've been told don't live in the hill area around it. My sister loves the Bend area, I hate trying to drive in Portland it can be very confusing trying to find you way around(and you cant ask for directions as no one seems to know their way around), Salem & Albany are ok, thats about all I have gotten to explore. I hope it helps. If you are think of moving to the Lane County area the visitors associationis: CVALCO.COM

You might check out the area newspapers then. Or, what about something that you could do from home? Wouldn't matter where you lived then!
