A loan to get resettled with...
I'm moving across country to the state of Washington soon. I will be going to school for the fall semester which starts at the end of Sept. I'm a newly discharged veteran who will be receiving tuition and a housing allowance from the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
The problem is the mean time. I'll have roughly two months of couch surfing while actively finding a part time job. I'm wondering if there is some sort of student loan or private loan I can get, but don't have to pay back until later down the road (I won't be so financially secure upon moving, so I don't want to commit to payments at the start and risk hurting my credit (which is currently really good)). I just want two or three thousand dollars (not that I'll necessarily use all of it) to help with food and other minor costs, until my GI Bill housing allowance comes in and I have a steady, part-time job. Anyone know of any options? I know the federal student loans like FAFSA take up to 45 days for processing. I'm wanting the funds to be available ASAP also because I plan to move in two weeks. I'm not currently employed so being approved for a normal private loan isn't doable without a co-signer... something to keep in mind. There's gotta be something out there, I just don't know what exactly.

I really don't think you're going to find any loans like this - I've certainly never heard of any. I think your best bet is to find a short term job to stockpile a little cash over the next month.

You posted an almost identical thread about a month ago: A loan for making a move and getting settled?
Has anything changed since then? Have you been working? Have you saved up any money since then? One place to look would be prosper.com.

I remember your previous thread, too. Sorry, I can't think of anywhere to get a loan like that.
Could there be a day labor pool near you? You work and get paid the same day. As far as I know the pay is usually quite low, but the jobs are often available as so many of them are jobs that people walk off from or quit after a couple days. So if you are very motivated.... But are you sure you need to move for school? It would be a highly unusual community college course that would not be offered in your own state, maybe your own town.

Nothing has changed. I'm now completely broke. I've had no luck finding work here in TN. I was planning to just stay here through the fall semester and then move after that, but I'm gonna go ahead and move out West.
I'm not moving for the school, but because of the location (it's where I want to be) and also the job market is WAY better. I don't see running into too much trouble finding part time work.
