Default Someone gives you $1,000...

Someone gives you $1,000 and tells you that you have to spend it that day or you lose it. What do you buy?

I would a new rifle. I know call me heartless for killing Bambi, but I like hunting fishing and being outside.

What are you blowing your grand on?

Good question! I find myself in save save save mode so much, I don't really think about spending it. I would like to buy a nice TV to watch movies. However, it may cost more than a $1000, but I would pay the rest with my own money.

I would buy new tires for my landcruiser, I still have good tread, but the tires are really old (1970 landcruiser--don't know when the previous owner bought the tires).

Easy kill -- Camera gear. There's a few lenses I need (want) to get, and also need (really!) to get a camera housing for SCUBA diving.

Guess I'd go buy a gift certificate at Lowes or put down credit at my neighborhood hardware store so that I could buy supplies for my back porch repair and painting. It's going to be a pretty big job and I don't know yet what supplies I'll need. Boring use of money from heaven. Maybe I need to loosen up a bit.

I love seeing the diversity of interests through people's answers. Act your wage... you could grab a 50 in. Vizio 1080p and still have enough for a net flix year-long subscription

Vacation. We've been wanting to go to San Fransisco for a while now.

Either that or pay for a couple of upcoming medical bills

I would fill up all three cars with gas, and stockpile groceries. It will take a lot of trips, but I will use all my coupons and have enough TP to last for a long time.
Or I would do an instant transfer towards my debt.

If I had to buy a thing, as opposed to investing it, I'd get a new refrigerator for the kitchen and a new freezer for the basement. We talk about upgrading them to new, energy efficient models but hate to replace the ones we have which work just fine, but I know it would actually save us money in the long run.

Good idea for spending your $1,000. I would have never thought of that, but it is a very practical way to spend it.

The fridge we are looking at is about $3000... (The freezer on the bottom type).

I like the 1080p and Netflix for a year, we could use a new TV in the bedroom.

We are low-tech folks when it comes to appliances. We might not be able to do the fridge and the freezer for $1,000, but I'm sure we could do at least one and part of the second.

As an outdoorsman myself I could see that purchase. I would probably end up being responsible with it though and upgrading something around the house like my 20 yr. old fridge.

Sell my current reciever, and upgrade to a separate processor and amp for my home theater system. Otherwise pick up a used Glock 19 (always wanted), and take my parents/siblings out to a nice dinner (minus the gun

I'd spend $500 getting Obama '12 signs made. I plant them in every yard in my neighborhood late at night.

Then I'd have $500 cash in my pocket for bail money.

Can I just buy a mutual fund? That's all I want. In fact, the scary thing is, you can hand up to $100k, and I'd still do the same. Beyond that, I'll have to think about it.

two laptops, for the kids to share.

prolly dinner out if any spare change. (they don't need gaming rigs, just the basics for programing and such.)
