Over the weekend my wife and I attended a festival put on by a local church. They had a silent auction for four White Sox tickets. Now normally we would not spend money on anything sports related, however my wife has never been to a MLB game and I figured if we were to attend one we might as well have decent seats. Neither of us had ever participated in a silent auction so we thought it would be fun to put in a bid ($600) and much to our surprise, we won the tickets! It turns out that the lady won donated the tickets is one the wife of one of the umpires. Anyway these tickets are not avialable for public purchase and a located behind home plate. Now I don't know anything about baseball game seating, but a friend of mine said these tickets would be worth quite a bit more money than we paid. I was thinking that I might try and sell 2 of the tickets and if I could get enough we might be able to attend the game for free or even make a little bit of money. I was wondering if anyone here might know what these worth or how to go about finding out. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I doubt you would get that much or more out of them considering the following:
1. They are for a regular season game and the white sox have 81 home games a year
2. They have the wrong color in front of their name - White.

If you had Redsox tickets behind home plate, you might be in business. But the Redsox sell out EVERY game, the white sox do not. If you can get more than you paid for them, by all means, sell them! Then buy some 15 dollar bleacher seats and sit out in left field. I have sat in left field many times at Comisky Park and they were fine seats.

If you plan to sell the tickets, before the game there are usually scalpers there which pay cash for seats. See what they give you- scalpers are supply-demand at its best- if the game is sold out, then you will get good money, regardless of location... if tickets are good location, you will get a good dollar for them even if game is not sold out.

Agreed. The only problem with baseball in Chicago is that there are two teams. The beloved team is the Cubs and they always sell out. Its damn near impossible to get cubs tickets - even when they suck.

Try StubHub.com. It's the MLB's authorized reseller of tickets. They take like 15% but the site gets crazy traffic. I've sold half of our season tickets to the Twins and it paid for the other 20 games I have.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. Go to StubHub, and check for comparable seats.

If none are available, go to the MLB team's website - either check for normal pricing, or call and ask what the normal pricing of those tickets is.
