I wouldn't mind an invite if you still have one available. I sent you a message with my information.

I heard that these accounts put spyware on your computer. Is this true?

Definitley not. The last thing Google would want to be associated with is SpyWare. They're a very reputable company.

But I thought they placed ads in your email. How can they do that without knowing what is in your email?

Yes, they do have advertisements targeted. I'm not sure I would call that spyware though. The huge amount of space they provide (1 gig) makes it worthwhile for me so I don't have to constantly delete messages or fear my mailbox will get too full.

I just bought a Gmail account today on Ebay for $.99. The seller has sent me two invites and neither worked. Both said account already created.

What exactly should happen if an actual working link is clicked?

If the link is working, you will simply need to fill out information (name, password, etc) to create an account and you should be able to use the account for mail in about 5 - 10 minutes.

I would love a gmail invite if you have any left. I keep going to the site to see if they are available yet, and they aren't

Once you get a gmail account, google gives you free accounts to invite friends from time to time.
