Default Journals - Nate???

Hi! I really really hope that this is just temporary. The new setup you've got for the journals looks really great - except for one small problem -- none of the journals are there!

Just wondering.

Thanks Nate.

Laura

Nate, another couple of questions. Is there anyway to show more of the recent journal entries than just four or five? Or, is there a way to show all the journals that have entries since you last made an entry? Also, is there a way to change the name of your journal that has already been made? Last but not least, can you have more than one journal, since the public/private option has been eliminated (within the same journal- as I found out just now looking at my journal )?

Thanks again!

Laura

Yes, I think that nate was going to work on expanding the recent journal entries today. I'll have Nate answer the questions about name changes...the private journal entries should be working correctly...we checked them late last night. I'll go back and check again to make sure.

OK, I just checked the private message function and it is working fine. It doesn't show up in a different color like in the past..I'll see if Nate can make it a bit different so it is more obvious that it is working correctly.

The title of the private entry WILL show up (not when viewing the journal, but on the side when viewing the last post of a person). When you click on the title link, however, it will say you don't have access to it. I'll see if we can make that a bit better too.

I like FrugalTexan's idea of seeing all the journal entries made since your last entry. I wouldn't even mind having to pick the dates or times to see this information.

I also would like to see this happen regarding the New Posts. It would be nice to be able to see everything within the last day, or 2 days, or 6 hours or 10 minutes, etc. Sometimes, I come back and want to look at some post and I can't remember where I saw it.

Thanks.

Oh I want to add something else. I liked how before you could click on the latest entry and get the newest journal entry as well as the rest of the journal. It now requires an extra click...yes call me lazy.

Could you also change the numbering around so that the oldest is #1, and the newest is #xyz? It was kind of motivating to see how many entries someone had right away. And for the more motivated, who like to see their names posted, it gave them a goal to get to for seeing their names on the listing of the most journal entries.

Thanks again.

Good suggestions! I made a few changes... Check it out tomorrow afternoon (after a few people have made some entries) and tell me what you think.

Nate,
Thanks Nate! The changes you made are terrific. Now one more question . . . My journal shows the last entry being on the 26th and only 43 entries -- but I've made several more entries since then. I'm not sure why, but maybe there's some kind of glitch??

ETA: Also, I don't know if it's only on my computer, but in order to read the journals I am having to scroll back and forth, which is, .... well .. kind of a pain. I know on message boards I have a tendancy to skip messages that are posted like that.

Keep up the great work!

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,
Laura

I have the same problem about my journal showing the last entry being on Feb 25th, but if I open up my journal it does show I have two entries since then....

Is it just me, or are some entries showing black text while others are showing gray text? The gray is hard to read.

Laura, gakline,

Yes, there was a problem (fixed now) so as soon as you make a new entry it will show it as your last entry.

Laura,

Do you mean you have to scroll side to side or up and down? Up and down, there's really nothing we can do, if a message is long it might make you scroll... Don't you have the same issue here in the forum?

Divajen,

I'll check into that..

I feel like a bully. Really I'm kind of nice, I don't say bad things. Maybe I just have bad luck with the journals. Mine doesn't seem to be adding. It says there are 24 entries, when there are really 25-26. hmmm. I just can't seem to get ahead in this world

Strange, there were a few journals where the entry count was off. Not sure why that was. Anyways, I have updated those numbers.

Please keep an eye on your journals for a little while and let me know if you find any more problems. I definitely want to get all the bugs worked out.

I have to second that gray text. It is difficult to read.

Also, it would be great if we could click "new entry" and still be able to read the most recent entries we've written. Maybe they could be listed underneath the text box or something. I often forget what I've wriitten and end up saying the same thing again, and I know other people do, too.

Thanks for all your hard work!!

I haven't been able to get to the journals in a long time. At first there was an error message and now I just get a blank screen. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I'm not sure what is going on...have sent a note to Nate to look into it. You shouldn't be having that problem.
