My family figured this one out for my brother's room... Hang stuff from the slanted ceiling/wall. Photos, posters, they've got a big sailing ship kite up, or paint something on it. It completely distracts your eye from the fact that the ceiling is slanted.

A house is primarily your home but it is likely the most expensive thing you buy so it also has an investment component. In the future you may want to move so while you may not want children, you need to know if the schools are decent.
I presume this is a house flip. The seller bought a 1950's house, gutted and refurbished with what looks like builder grade cupboards, counter, flooring, tiles appliances etc. When was the roof, furnace, water tank, bones of house replaced? What are the warranties? Did they use correct permits? Are they energy efficient? Did it pass a home inspector for foundation, plumbing, electricals etc? Paint and flooring are the easiest, cheapest things to DIY. I don't recommend a corner lot because it means so much more lawn to cut, snow to shovel, vulnerable to car accidents and vandalism. How long has the house been on the market? In this downward market there is a lot of room to negotiate price. What access to facilities and services you use regularly? |

I decided not to go with this house because I want to live in a different area and look for something a bit cheaper.
