Default Finished over 8k...finally.

Well, the Dow managed to finish the week over 8000 I don't know if this is a recovery sign or not but am glad to see gains in recent weeks. The market seems to be working upward even with some not so great economic news. I'm crossing my fingers that we're climbing out of the hole but there's a ways to go.

I don't see the bones for a recovery in the economy, this will likely be short lived.

The gov. is still spending like a drunken salior and unemployment is still roaring along.

I'm staying in my shell, living frugally and investing.

What Maat said maybe true it's anyone's guess but remember the key economic indicators that Matt's referring to are usually the last ones in the recovery process to show any improvement or turn around. The first turn around in the recovery phase is usually in the stock market and consumer spending. Believe it or not both of those are on track thus far...

My Roth is only a few cents shy of being in the green . . . but I only started it last fall.

Just what I was going to say. The stock market usually recovers at least 6 months before the overall economy. That could have us seeing a recovery toward the end of the year, which is what a lot of folks seem to be anticipating.

My investment portfolio (my play money) is positive too! One stock is up 10%, the other 33%.
