Question Talk to me about AmeriPlan?

Ok, so in looking at Craigslist I came across an ad for AmeriPlan. It's not insurance, but a medical discount program. Supposedly there's no cold calling, etc involved in it.

So, I'm wondering if I got some kind of a catastrophic medical insurance plan + AmeriPlan - would that make sense?

Is AmeriPlan for real? I mean, would it be worthwhile pursuing as another one of my side jobs?

Oh yeah, I checked, and the doctor I've used for the last 8 years is listed as part of their program. I actually have an appointment with her on Thursday (trying to get in appts before normal insurance benefits end) so I was thinking of asking her what my cost would be for my visit with AmeriPlan - if she thinks its worthwhile.

I'm fairly healthy, although overweight and have hypothyroidism - so am not sure if I should chance going off normal insurance (i.e. Cobra starting in March.)

Your thoughts please?
